Reviews Summary

Visitors are consistently awed by the National Library of Spain's magnificent architecture and the sheer scale of its book collections, often describing it as a 'fairy tale' experience. While entry is free for exploration, those seeking to borrow or access archives need to register. Some find accessing specific historical documents challenging without being on-site. TikTokReddit

"Beautiful place. We saw 2 exhibitions in a calm atmosphere. I just noticed that most of the information and details are only in Spanish making interest to drop easily. However when you love history, you will get caught and dive into the stories."

Axel A

"As a tourist with an only conversational level of Spanish, this is not comparable to visiting the British Library. This is first and foremost a working museum. Entry is free but the security guards running the metal detectors have practically no info for non-scholarly visitors.

There is a small exhibit on the first floor of the main entrance with an interesting collection of books, maps, and items.

Once you go outside, back down the stairs, and off to the side entrance, you can tour a really interesting temporary (maybe?) exhibit on hell and wonders which covered the start of the written word through computers and the future. Some great old books, globes, and global works."

Chelsea Downey

"It's such a great place and it's must visit if you go to Madrid the building is amazing and you can also visit a part of the library inside and see some very old books . It's great experience"
