"Excellent guided tour with the bright and passionate astronomer Alba. The history of the building, cartography, and astronomy explanations and insights have been extremely interesting, and the time flew by. We have been privileged to have this beautiful private experience.

The observatory houses an impressive collection of antique instruments used for various astronomical and meteorological activities, such as a meridian circle and an exhibition of precision clocks. Visitors can admire a replica of William Herschel's enormous telescope, which has a 60-centimeter diameter and a focal length of 8 meters.
Impressive collection of books and magazines as well as the huge pendulum at the main entrance.
A must visit while in Madrid."

"I don’t speak Spanish but the staffs and the guide was kind enough to let me in to the tour. (The guide explained some parts of the contents in English to me.)

It was mostly visual stuff so I don’t think I missed out much in understanding the history of astronomy in Spain.

As I like history and astronomy, I really enjoyed this tour and visiting the Royal Observatory of Madrid.

If you want to better understand the context of the tour, I recommend visiting the Naval Museum nearby because the part of the astronomical studies in Spain had to do with maritime navigation."

Jason K.

"The guided tour is excellent! The guides are working as investigators at the Observstory and provide many facts and practical information. Kids of 10-20 enjoy a lot."
