"The Monument to the Heroes of Spain is part of the city's historic and artistic complex and is a site of cultural interest. It was built in 1941 to the design of sculptor Vicente Maeso Cayuela. The construction was directed by municipal architect Enrique Nieto y Nieto, and its inauguration took place on July 20, 1941. Between 2015 and 2016, its Francoist symbolism was removed as part of the renovation of the Heroes of Spain Square."
