"I suggest driving up to the top and walking the last 5 or so minutes. The view of San Lorenzo de El Escorial is amazing and not to be missed. Ask the locals to direct you. There's is a neighborhood behind El Escorial with very steep roads that will take you up, but it's a little confusing."
