"The Clock Tower Gate, formerly called the Eras Gate, is part of Ponferrada's urban wall.
The tower rises above a striking semicircular arch, which belongs to the only gate of the old medieval wall that remains today.
This entrance connects the Town Hall Square with the famous Clock Street and the old town.
Built in 1567, it is a building of great historical value in Ponferrada. Initially, the tower consisted of two sections, each containing the coat of arms and the clock. At the end of the 17th century, a third section was added, topped with a capital, which houses the bell.
Although the most representative element of this tower is its clock, there are other elements with which it shares space. On both sides of the tower, we find an engraved coat of arms, while at the top is the bell, as well as a large spire."
