Visitors find the Capela de Santa Catalina Portonovo to be a simple, charming chapel, often admired from the outside due to its frequent closure. Its location in a scenic area with a park and a historical stone cross makes it a pleasant stop, especially for those on the Camino de Santiago.

"Beautiful church on my Camino de Santiago way."

Svetlana Margetová

"We were only able to see it from the outside because it was closed. It was a very simple construction, like most chapels. Located in a high area of Portonovo. Next to it is a park and a beautiful stone cross.
Stone crosses are found at cemetery entrances, crossroads, and sanctifying spaces associated with pagan beliefs.
In Galicia, there are between 10,000 and 15,000 stone crosses, some still standing from the 14th century.
The stone cross in the park is the one closest to the chapel; we found the other one while walking through Portonovo.
