What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for Refugi Ventosa i Calvell are mixed, with some praising the food and views while others criticize the cramped sleeping conditions, high cost, and limited services. Many acknowledge its remote mountain setting but find the amenities lacking for the price.
"The worst refuge, by far. Cost way more than any others and you will have 4 people crammed onto a mattress that fits 2. Hope you like having your arm stuck to the person next to you. The room is far too hot with no bug screens so you'll be bitten all over, and at least 40 people in the same room snoring means you will have a very poor night's sleep.
Food was nice, all 3 mouthfuls of it you get. No extra food will be brought out unlike other refuges. After a 10 hour hike you can expect to go to bed hungry. You can't even pay for extra food after dinner.
Staff will kick you out very early so they can go climbing. Toilets close straight after breakfast so don't even think about having a coffee.
The views were pretty good though, but those are the only free thing you'll get at Ventosa."

"There is no reception at all and no wifi! We felt disconnected from the world! The food was fine. A shower costs € 2 for five minutes and part of the time there was cold water. Two toilets for everyone! Not enough at all! At night there is complete darkness and good luck to get to the bathroom. There is one huge room and it's like a snoring choir."

"I see some crappy reviews and don’t understand why… this is a mountain hit after all, and if you need wireless you are in the wrong place. The beds are just like in the other huts. Here’s my experience: One of the best food we had on Carros de Foc, very friendly service and amazing trails around."
