What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club offers a substantial 27-hole golf experience with appealing ocean views. However, some visitors have noted issues with course maintenance, particularly on the greens, and the quality of hired equipment. The summer evening markets are a popular draw, adding a lively dimension to the venue.
"Have stayed in lots of Barcelos over the years but this one was very disappointing. The room was very good apart from the glass toilet door that refused to stay closed. The evening meal was nothing special with some dishes served cold. Service was generally friendly and good but the chef making omelette could d o with customer service training.
We were in block 4 and the outdoor walkway between the main building and block 2 was dark and very wet and potentially slippery. It needs illumination."

"Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Visit
We were advised to play the “Los Ficus” course (holes 19-27) first, followed by “Los Olivos” (holes 1-9). The price was not high, but unfortunately, the experience did not live up to even modest expectations.
The “Los Ficus” section was unusual — several par 3s, with paths crossing the fairways and vehicles frequently passing by, which disrupted the game. The “Los Olivos” course was slightly better in terms of layout, but the greens had been recently hollow tined (“pinchados”) and were in poor condition. Disappointingly, this was not mentioned by the club in advance.
Overall, we did not enjoy our round and found the golf course to be of poor quality. We left feeling very disappointed."

"Really Nice course, we just got really unlucky woth the weather, one thing that i dont like to much is i play of the whites and they disnt have the markers out, if the weather was good and they would have put out the markers and maybe painted the cups it would have been a 5!"
