Reviews Summary

Sa Tuna Beach is celebrated for its stunning, picturesque cove and vibrant Mediterranean charm, making it a photographer's delight. Visitors appreciate the snorkeling opportunities and scenic hiking trails. However, the beach's pebbly terrain and occasional jellyfish can be drawbacks, and parking is notoriously difficult, often leading to frustration and fines. Dining options are convenient but can be inconsistent, with many recommending Begur for a better culinary experience. Reddit

"Went there with the family (kids 9 and 13). Perfect for sunbathing as well as snorkling. Great scenery and even some decent hiking trails if you feel you need to use your legs. You can rent a SUP for €20/hour. Restaurants are so-so (but there is a very nice gelateria/ice cream that sometimes has crepes and pizza) so I recommend going to Begur for dinner. Parking is limited but we managed to free find spots on the road down even if we came around lunch time."

Michael Lokner

"We were only passing by and we’ve decided to stop and explore a bit de destination. Difficult to find parking and we left the car on a hill which then meant a long walk down in the valley but well worth it."

Alina Marcut

"Stunning little beach and cove with a couple of perfectly placed (but very busy) restaurants. Don’t expect to park, it’s tiny and busy. Best to walk or use the bus from Begur."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

Navigating Parking and Access

Getting to Sa Tuna Beach presents a unique challenge, primarily due to its limited parking. Visitors consistently report difficulty finding a spot, especially during peak tourist seasons. Many recommend arriving very early in the morning or considering alternative transport. Walking from the charming medieval town of Begur is a popular option, offering scenic views along the way. Alternatively, local buses run from Begur, providing a stress-free way to reach the cove without worrying about parking tickets or the narrow, winding roads leading down to the beach. Reddit

Key Takeaway: Prioritize planning your arrival to avoid parking frustration. Walking or taking the bus are highly recommended strategies for a smoother experience at Sa Tuna. Reddit

Understanding the Beach Environment

Sa Tuna is a picturesque cove characterized by its pebble beach rather than sand. This means comfortable footwear, like water shoes, is highly advisable for walking on the stones and entering the water. While the waters are generally clear and inviting for snorkeling, some visitors have noted the presence of jellyfish, which can sting. It's wise to be aware of the sea conditions and any local advisories. Additionally, a notable aspect of Sa Tuna is the absence of public trash cans, meaning visitors are responsible for carrying out all their waste, reinforcing the need to pack out what you pack in. Reddit

Key Takeaway: Be prepared for a pebbly beach and potential jellyfish. Pack water shoes and be mindful of the 'leave no trace' principle by taking all your rubbish with you. Reddit

Dining and Local Flavors

Sa Tuna boasts a couple of restaurants situated directly on the beach, offering convenient dining with beautiful views. These establishments typically serve Mediterranean and seafood dishes. However, reviews suggest that while the location is prime, the food quality can be inconsistent, with some describing it as 'so-so'. For those seeking a more diverse culinary experience, the nearby town of Begur is frequently recommended. It offers a wider array of dining options, from traditional Catalan cuisine to more contemporary choices. There's also a well-regarded gelateria at Sa Tuna that sometimes offers crepes and pizza, providing a more casual treat. Reddit

Key Takeaway: Enjoy the convenience of beachside dining at Sa Tuna, but consider venturing to Begur for a broader and potentially higher-quality gastronomic experience. Reddit
