Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Basilica of El Escorial for its stunning Renaissance architecture, intricate artwork, and profound historical significance. The Royal Pantheon and Library are frequently highlighted as particularly impressive. While photography is restricted inside, the grandeur of the site leaves a lasting impact.

"The basilica alongside the library are the most beautiful parts of the Monasterio visit. The altar and the art used to paint and adorn the most significant parts of the basilica are beautifully intricate and very well painted. Please take your time to admire the architecture and the decorations."

Hugo Pedro-Martins

"If you are staying for more than a few days in Madrid, you cannot miss The Escorial Monastery. Ordered by the King Filipe II, this impressive building guards the remains of the Spanish royals, and some of the finnest european art.
There are several guided tours that take you from Madrid city center to the Escorial, and you even can combine the tour with a visit to the Church of The Valle de los Caídos, the impressive Church carved in the mountain, at the time Franco ruled in Spain."

Ana Madeira

"This was a beautiful walk around the stunning Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. This is a Royal Palace and Monastery and is simply magnificent inside and out. Photos are not permitted inside sadly. It consists of the monastery, basilica, an exqusite priceless library, royal tombs and palace. A simply sumptious place to visit and a WHS at that. Hard to do it justice with just an iphone camera."
