What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Santona is a large and beautiful town, but visitor experiences are mixed. While the town itself is appealing, criticisms are frequently leveled at the town hall's perceived lack of responsiveness and the poor state of amenities and access at Berria beach. Parking challenges in summer and issues with dog waste on streets also detract from the experience for some.
"A man like Luis Carrero Blanco "el ogro" should not be honoured
Shame on the city of Santona that there is still a monument and a street with the name of a "franquista" like him"
Alain Theisen
"It's shameful how dog feces litter the streets. It's a real scavenger hunt to avoid them. This is solved with fines, once the dog's DNA has been checked, now that everyone goes to the vet. Added to the shortage of parking in summer are the improperly painted yellow lines, like at 40 Ortiz Otañez Street."
Paloma Foronda
"Thank you for allowing itinerant tourists to park and visit the town. The most important thing is that it's a large and beautiful town. If you could add an area to the industrial estate, that would be great."

Understanding Santona's Public Services
This situation contrasts with the town's overall appeal as a 'large and beautiful town' that attracts itinerant tourists. While the town hall is a functional building, its perceived inaccessibility for administrative matters is a recurring theme in user feedback. It's recommended that visitors seeking to engage with town hall services do so in person if possible, or be prepared for potential delays and communication hurdles.
The Berria Beach Experience
This lack of investment and attention to infrastructure has led to the beach not receiving a Blue Flag award, a distinction for environmental quality and facilities. Reviews draw a stark comparison with neighboring towns like Noja and Arnuero, which are praised for their improved beach access. The sentiment is that Santona's town hall is not adequately addressing these issues, potentially impacting tourism revenue and the town's reputation.
