Reviews Summary
Alameda de Hércules is celebrated as a lively, historic public square that beautifully blends Seville's past with its vibrant present. Visitors praise its energetic evening atmosphere, diverse tapas scene, and unique Roman columns. While it can get very hot during summer afternoons, its appeal as a central gathering spot for locals and a bohemian hub is undeniable.
"It is lovely public square with a long history of being the place where the nobility took walks in the 16th century. Over time it took a turn for the worse till it was revived at the start of the 21st Century. It is unquie as large paved public space in the middle of a dense city. The square itself has different moods during the day. The best time to experience it is in the evening when children are playing football and the people are enjoying their meals and drinking in the dozens of bars and restaurants that dot it's boundary. We loved going back to it again and again."

"This is a large community square / promenade established in 1500s. 2 poignant Roman columns, one crowned with Hercules, considered the legendary father of Seville, and the other Julius Caesar, who closed the city with walls, were set up here. This square is also the football fan gathering place as cafes and pubs mostly are located nearby."

"Sevilla, Alameda de Hércules, or simply La Alameda, is a garden square or mall in Seville. Built in: 1574, it was originally a promenaded public garden, named after the eight rows of white poplar trees that fill its central part. Four columns were placed to mark off a promenade through the trees. In the beginning it was planned to take four columns from the remains of the Roman temple, believed to be dedicated to Hercules. However, when moving the third column it fell apart, leaving the work temporarily unfinished. Consequently, the two columns at the southern end of the square are from the original Roman temple, whereas the northern columns are modern reproductions."
