What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Triana's vibrant ceramic scene and the opportunity to create unique pieces in workshops. However, some reviews highlight concerns about customer service and the quality of certain mass-produced items, with a few experiencing issues with durability after purchase. Prices can also be perceived as high by some.
"There is great section of lovely products but alas their customer service does not match their products. After my daughter and I had purchased various items I asked if I could have a second piece of bubble wrap to protect a ceramic dancer as we were travelling back to Australia but was told in a rude and abrupt manner that it came in a box, which one did but the second one did not. I have to ask the question how much does a small piece of bubble wrap cost compared to good customer service. Apparently too much....."

"Short and simple but 2 Euro. Good history and interesting. I enjoyed it."
Christopher Sipe
"I loved their store and the variety one could find there. However, their ceramic products are not properly made, which I find unacceptable especially for its high price. My mugs, which were only used a couple of times and washed entirely by hand and not the dishwasher, has chipped with cracks appearing in the glazed insides within 2 months of use. When I contacted them to inform them of this, they told me that it is normal (our food health and safety website has mentioned that we should not use chipped and cracked mugs as the glaze may contain harmful chemicals which may seep into our drinks). The store also mentioned that my mugs were chipped due to transport, despite the fact that I hand carried them in the cabin (they were wrapped with bubble wrap from the store) and they were perfectly alright when they first arrived.
Would highly not recommend the store especially if you are looking for quality products that will last."

The Art of Triana Ceramics
Key elements of Triana ceramics include vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and a wide range of products from decorative tiles (azulejos) to tableware and sculptures. Many shops showcase pieces that reflect Andalusian culture, historical motifs, and contemporary artistic expressions. The Centro Cerámica Triana provides a fascinating historical context, displaying ancient kilns and a rich collection of ceramic art that tells the story of the district's evolution.
When exploring, you'll notice a distinction between mass-produced souvenirs and genuine artisan creations. While both have their appeal, seeking out pieces from independent artists can offer a more unique and higher-quality memento. Many TikTok and Instagram creators highlight the joy of discovering these hidden gems and the satisfaction of creating one's own ceramic piece during a workshop.
Participating in a Ceramic Workshop
Popular studios like Ajuar Studio are frequently mentioned by content creators. These workshops are often designed for beginners, making them accessible to everyone, regardless of prior experience. The process typically involves designing your piece, painting it with vibrant glazes, and then leaving it to be fired in the kiln. The result is a personalized souvenir that carries the essence of your Seville trip.
Remember that your creation won't be ready for immediate collection. The firing and glazing process takes time, and studios will either arrange for you to pick up your piece later or ship it to your home address. This anticipation adds to the excitement of owning a truly unique, handmade item from Triana.
