Camí de Ronda Platja Fonda ~ Aiguablava. Tamariu ~ Cala Pedrosa. 9a. Etapa.

Reviews Summary

Platja de Tamariu is praised for its stunning scenery and dream-like Mediterranean setting, making it a favorite for swimming and relaxation. However, many visitors note it can be extremely dirty and overcrowded during peak times, with issues like litter and jellyfish. Parking is also a significant challenge, requiring early arrival or careful planning.

"Fascinating scenery, but unfortunately extremely dirty and overcrowded even after 4pm. Broken bottles lie scattered on the cliffs where children are climbing, food leftovers everywhere, dirty diapers left behind, and plastic cups and bandages floating in the water. On top of that, the sea was full of jellyfish. It’s a real shame that such a beautiful place is so neglected, and that visitors don’t take responsibility for cleaning up or taking their garbage with them."

Katrīna

"Like a dream. My new favorite place to swim in the Mediterranean.
One note, parking on the street that leads to the beach was fine - but witnessed someone go up into a parking lot (on the left facing away from the beach) and dragged the bottom of their car. So caution if not parking on the street level."

Courtney Thomas

"Fresh water, paid parking available (try to arrive before 8 am otherwise it’s full) and nice vibe overall."

Navigating Parking and Crowds

One of the most frequently mentioned challenges for visitors to Platja de Tamariu is parking. During the peak summer months, the limited street parking and paid lots fill up extremely quickly. Many travelers advise arriving very early in the morning, ideally before 8 AM, to secure a spot. The police are known to ticket and tow vehicles aggressively, so it's crucial to park legally and consider the steep inclines in some parking areas. InstagramReddit

Beyond parking, crowds are another significant factor. Platja de Tamariu is a popular destination, and it can become very crowded, especially in July and August. This overcrowding can detract from the experience for some, with mentions of litter and a general lack of space. Visiting on weekdays or during the shoulder seasons (spring and fall) can offer a more relaxed atmosphere and a better chance of enjoying the beach without the intense crowds. Reddit

To make the most of your visit, planning your arrival time is essential. If you're unable to secure parking, consider alternative transport options or be prepared for a walk. Embracing the local rhythm, perhaps by visiting during off-peak hours or weekdays, can significantly enhance your experience of this beautiful coastal gem. Reddit
