Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the free entry and the absolutely spectacular panoramic views from the castle's rooftop, offering a unique perspective of Teguise and Lanzarote. However, many are disappointed by the lack of engaging historical exhibits inside, finding the current displays sparse, eclectic, or outdated, leading to shorter than expected visits.

"Visited this castle after passing by the entrance a couple of times when it was closed and after reading a few good reviews for it.

Road access is quite narrow at points with a few passing places, so no real problems there. You need to watch out for the odd walking visitor on the road, though.

Parking + entrance to the castle is free although donations are accepted via a collection plate at the entrance. Walking inside the castle is a bit of a let down as there are very few exhibits or information screens to see. There used to be a piracy museum apparently, but that is no longer there. Most of the rooms are empty with a few empty display cases there, too.

It is possible to access the roof area where you can get spectacular views of the surrounding area, BUT access to it is not that obvious. We initially walked in, saw a barrier (near the entrance) across a staircase heading up to the roof and assumed there was no other access. This IS NOT the case. The normal access is further into the castle, but there are initially no signs to suggest this. I asked the attendant who pointed me in the right direction.

Overall, being free to enter, worth a visit just for the views alone. The castle itself is not particularly interesting with very little information presented."

Fraser Blacklaws

"Free entry, always a plus.

An interesting place to look around, but honestly the "exhibition" if it can be called that was just weird... Lots of art that didn't seem to belong there, lots of random magazine pictures.

Poorly kept art behind windows falling off the wall, just dated and old.... Not much information, especially in English, other than 1 folder with a union jack to share and read what read like a wiki page.

Cool place to visit for sure, wouldn't spend longer than 30 minutes here though."

Ryan Jordan

"Great little castle on top of a volcano with great views over Teguise and way over Lanzarote to the coast. Quite a hairy drive up and down but worth it for the views. It's also free to get in which is a bonus although not much to see inside except some art pieces"
