Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently rave about the breathtaking beauty of Ordesa Valley, describing it as a fantasy-like landscape with stunning forests and cliffs. The hike to Cola de Caballo is considered a challenging but ultimately rewarding experience. However, some note that the waterfall's flow can be disappointing during dry periods, and the trail can be quite crowded.

"Honestly, the waterfall isn’t as amazing as I thought it would be.
Probably because there’s not much water and it’s been super hot and dry this year (2025). You can see there’s basically no water at all on the upper part of the river.

There’s no shade near the waterfall, so it’s better to walk back and find a shady spot for a picnic lunch.

"Amazing spot. For August the waterfall has a lot of water… super!"

Hugo Mendes

"Runnable trail with shorter options if you’re with a partner who doesn’t want to go all the way. In total it was around 10.5 miles to cola de caballo. The trail is beautiful and in the woods (a great fall hike) for most of the miles and is in a pastoral setting for the last mile or so to the last waterfall. Probably the most popular hike in the park"
