Reviews Summary

Valsaín Palace Ruins offer a poignant glimpse into a lost royal residence, with visitors appreciating the atmospheric and mysterious nature of the remnants. However, many express disappointment over the site's state of disrepair and the incongruous surroundings, wishing for better preservation and a more dignified setting.

"A little bit abandoned. It's used for storing wood"

Joan Menchon Bes

"The first of the Royal Sites was the Palace of Valsaín, now reduced to ruins. Philip II devoted time, effort, and an immense amount of resources to its construction, building a complex that reflected the new architectural ideas he had learned during his travels through northern Europe: Flanders, England, and other kingdoms.

Today, only a few vestiges remain: a solitary tower, the stable courtyard, fragments of columns, and four arcades that have stood the test of time. It is hard to imagine that this once majestic complex has been reduced to such a state.

It is a shame that a palace that was a symbol of elegance and power is in such a state. Even so, anyone who contemplates the beauty of the ruins will find in Valsaín a place steeped in mystery and poetry, where the stones seem to silently recall the grandeur of its past."
