Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Church of San Nicolás as a breathtaking and unique experience, often calling it the 'Sistine Chapel of Valencia.' The hourly light show is a standout feature, bringing the ornate Baroque frescoes to life in a magical way. While some find the interior's detail overwhelming and the €15 entry fee a bit pricey, most agree the experience is unforgettable and well worth it, especially with the informative audio guide. Reddit

"We wanted to see the church having heard of it's marvelous paintings. We got there and there was a queue not that large. There we found out the entrance cost was 15 euros but it included the audioguide and the light projections (for children it is free). We knew nothing about the show but we decided to give it a try. It was breathtaking. The thoughtfulness that went into planing and executing this show was absolutely remarkable. It manages to convey to the visitors the history, the work of the artist that built and decorated it, the symbolism behind it all. It made a very well restored building come to life and even more grand, more beautiful.
For us it was one of the best moments we had the luck of experiencing in a city that has a lot to offer (mind you we were together with a 6 year old that was as mesmerised as us).
The light show stars hourly from 11:00. I recommend you enter after one has ended, walk through the church with the audio guide and then see the show."

"Stunning and unique church—often called the “Sistine Chapel of Valencia”. The interior is breathtaking but very detailed, which can feel overwhelming. The light projection show helps reveal connections in the artwork that are otherwise hard to catch. Atmosphere is mixed: calming like a church, but also a bit stressful due to the crowds. Entry is pricey (€15), and the English audio guide misses a couple of stops. Allow 1–1.5 hours. Accessible for all visitors, including wheelchairs. Photography is allowed."

"Went on a Sunday and there were queues outside. A kind woman at the entrance suggested we return during the week. I followed her advice and had a great time. You buy a ticket, see a series of incredible pieces of art, have a thorough guide to follow, and get access to the Silk Museum. Amazing!"
