What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Castro Fortress for its breathtaking panoramic views of Vigo and the surrounding bay. The well-maintained gardens and historical remnants add to its charm, making it a free and accessible attraction. However, some find parking challenging, and the on-site cafe receives mixed reviews.
"Great views. Great walk up. Around 400 steps. There is a road that goes most of the way but if you use a wheelchair you will struggle to get to the very top.
Also reviews for the closest cafe seem to be not very good. We didn't bother going there because of this."
Daniel Jackson
"It's a must go place in Vigo. Great 360º view, specially towards the river and sea. There's plenty of gardens, all of which are well treated and trimmed. You'll find animals all around like frogs in the pod and big lizards around as well as plenty of birds. There's a OK coffee at the main plaza. You can visit most of it in no time.
Parking spaces are a nightmare to find, be aware of the gravel parking lot, the "road" surface it's like the moons surface.
Access is free and easy.
Most of the people around are polite."
Helder Mendes
"What a lovely place on vigo. The walk up isn't too bad, and there Is a slightly longer ramp to use if you don't fancy the steps. Plenty of benches and places to stop on the way up though! At the top there's lots of various view points and things to view. Only downside is non of the info is in English, but Google translate did the trick! Stunning views of the sea and port."
