It has a rectangular floor plan, a single nave, a semicircular apse, and a sacristy attached to the south side, arranged around a wide 17th-century portico.
The Church of San Juan de Amandi dates back to the pre-Romanesque period, according to documentary evidence, but stylistically corresponds to the Baroque phase of Asturian Romanesque architecture, with Gothic elements.
It has a single nave with a semicircular sanctuary. Two bays and a semicircular portico supported by Tuscan columns surrounding the church have been added to the north and south sides; above this 17th-century portico is a two-bay Baroque bell gable from the 18th century.
On the outside of the building, there are two entrance doors: one on the richly decorated front, with a pointed and strongly flared arch, and another on the south side, with a semicircular arch and simpler decoration.
