"We did this walk halfway round the volcano rim as part of the visit to the volcano centre, but their are other ways to walk up to it from lower down the mountains. The walk requires sturdy footwear as its loose lava gravel track with rocks and steps in places. You need to take care as their are steep drops, some into the volcano crater and some down the sides with little or no barrier and you will need good mobility levels. The rock formations of the lava look very colourful when the sun shines on them and their are pine trees growing in the crater. Their is a platform with panoramic views to the coast, the lighthouses, fishing villages, another small volcano, banana plantations and up to the mountains and towns as well as up the coastline, where you can see the lava flow from the latest volcano where it enters the sea and forms more land. Its is worth walking to for the views."

"This is a good place to visit after you have viewed the active volcano. You can park on the road side and walk about 2km to the view point. Very impressive crater and its pretty clear the lava flow heading off to the left hand side. The different types of rock are evident and some lava bombs or boulders that you can imagine being fired out and glowing red hot. Other walks take you down to the lighthouse."

"A must visit place when visiting La Palma. Good views are well worth the climb. Just keep in mind that there aru heavy gusts of wind on top of the volcano, even if it seems like a day with no wind down in the city. So seal warm clothes and decent hiking shoes."
