"Also called Óptima or de Olivares and integrated into the first walled enclosure, it was built in the 11th century. It served as the entrance to the city on the south side, accessing the area of the Cathedral. It is a lowered semicircular arch, with a smooth impost. It is topped by a double-sided roof, broken by an irregular polyhedron-shaped finish.
On one side of the door is the Mirador de Troncoso, from where you can see the Duero River and the stone bridge, and on the other side, a square where the Episcopal Palace and the Casa Del Cid are located.
It preserves a commemorative plaque of the victory of the Zamoran troops, under the command of Alfonso IX, during the conquest of the city of Mérida."
