What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Estación del Norte for its beautiful renovation and its role as a vibrant civic center. It's appreciated for hosting cultural events like jazz nights and art exhibitions, offering a pleasant atmosphere for exploration and community engagement. Some note it's a great place to learn about local history.
"Built during the reign of Isabella II, it was inaugurated by Francisco de Asís de Borbón (king consort) in 1861.
Designed by the civil engineer Pedro Andrés y Puigdollers, it served the Barcelona-Zaragoza line for passengers until the 1970s and freight until the early 1980s. Its name, Estación del Norte, comes from the takeover of the original company by the Compañía de los Caminos de Hierro del Norte de España (Northern Spain Railway Company).
It has currently been renovated and converted into a municipal civic center and senior citizens' club for the Arrabal neighborhood."
