Reviews Summary

The Anuradhapura Archaeological Museum is a highly underrated gem, offering a fascinating glimpse into Sri Lanka's first royal capital with a rich collection of ancient artifacts. Visitors consistently praise the helpful and knowledgeable staff who enhance the learning experience. While parking and interior photography can be minor inconveniences, the free entry and educational value make it a must-visit.

"This archeological museum at Anuradhapura is just as described by other reviewers. It's so underrated.

Although we had been to Anuradhapura for many years we had never stopped by this gem of a place until recently and we were fascinated by the archeologically important structures they had there.

The striking feature for me was their staff. They were very helpful and described all the items with the historical importance.

Although it is not a very large area they have many archeological items here.

It's a must visit place if you go to Anuradhapura.

Special Notes:

*Taking photographs inside the museum is not allowed. (I believe we must respect these regulations. Outside photography was allowed and all photos published under this review were taken after obtaining permission from the staff member who guided us.)

*They do not have a proper parking space and the visitors need to park the vehicles just outside of the museum by the road side."
