Idalgashinna Railway Station is lauded as one of Sri Lanka's most beautiful, celebrated for its breathtaking misty mountain views and unique location. While the station offers limited facilities, the scenic train journey and the magical atmosphere make it a must-visit for nature lovers and train enthusiasts. The challenging access for some adds to its adventurous appeal.
"The railway station located at the most scenic and geographically unique location of the country. The only mode of public transport to Idalgashinna town. The views from the two opposite sides is the station are faced - southern lowlands and central hills (from Welimada plateau through to Piduruthalagala mountain range).
The station itself has a very limited facilities for the travellers and visitors. Can easily be converted to a customer and tourist friendly place by opening a cafe (tea, coffee and snacks), arranging guided tours to Idalgashinna mountain top, Adisham Bungalow, Haputale, etc. This will be a lucrative source of income.
A must visit place by all nature lovers, train enthusiasts, geography lovers."

"I recently took a motorcycle trip to this most beautiful railway station I have ever seen. Surrounded by stunning mountains and enveloped in a cold, misty fog, this place was truly magical.
The ride to get there was no easy feat. It was a challenging off-road trail that required skill and stamina to navigate. But the effort was worth it, as the views along the way were breathtaking.
Upon arriving at the railway station, we were struck by its beauty. The building itself was a work of art, with intricate details and a grand, old-world charm.
The surrounding mountains and fog only added to the atmosphere, making it feel like we had stepped into another world.
We spent hours exploring the area and taking in the sights and sounds. The railway station was bustling with activity, as trains came and went, and the surrounding mountains offered endless opportunities for hiking and exploring.
Overall, this was an incredible trip and one that I will never forget. The beauty of the railway station and the surrounding area was unmatched, and the motorcycle ride to get there was an adventure in itself. I highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience."

"This is the most beautiful railway station in Sri Lanka. The train station is covered with fog for most of the day. It has a very spectacular view when there is no fog. On the left you can see Diyatalawa, Bandarawela area and on the right you can see towards Hambantota. If you are going to see Idalgashinna mountain you have to get down from this station. You can reach the top of the mountain in about 30 minutes by hike."
