Reviews Summary
Marakolliya Beach is highly praised for its stunning, wide sandy shores and peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere, making it a favorite for relaxation and witnessing beautiful sunsets. While swimming can be challenging due to currents, the natural beauty and the unique opportunity to see nesting sea turtles during season are significant draws. Accommodations often offer a warm, local experience with delicious homemade food.
"we stayed here as a recommendation by a friend. it was a great recommendation, our favorite homestay of our trip.
the room was clean and had AC. we we were warmly greeted with a mango juice, made of mangos from their own mango tree. one of the nights we opted to eat there, we had a great homemade meal. one of the mornings we took a breakfast there which was an authentic local breakfast
we also booked the full day safari which was a complete package: entree tickets, a great driver/guide a fresh breakfast to go, a great homemade lunch, fruits, cooled water and soda. booking the full day safari gave us pleanty of time to spot all the animals. we spotted a bear, leopard, elepants, deers, monkeys and a few eagles. the driver drove with great care for the passengers and animals. during the safari we also learned about the park, animals and communication of the animals
quality/price ratio of the accomodation was one of the best that we have seen in our trip to sri lanka. the owner were very kind to us. we wanted to stay one day earlier than planned and that was also sorted out quickly for us."

"Very beautiful strip of sand, for us the best beach so far - only downside is that you can only "swim" in one spot, but it's still worth it to relax as it is quite empty in comparison to some places like Mirissa."

"Beautiful super long & wide beach with turquoise water and wild surroundings. Not a lot of shadow and not suitable for swimming but the unspoild tourist-free landscape is worth seeing.
FYI, the bicycle ride from Tangalle isn't really nice."
