The unique rock-cut architecture is a significant highlight, offering a glimpse into Sri Lanka's rich cultural heritage. "On a Sunday, I visited this temple and was pleased by the peacefulness — calm, quiet, and not very crowded. This temple is an important historic site famous for its beautiful Kandyan-period frescoes and complex architectural details, and certainly a demonstration of the richness of Sri Lanka’s heritage. It was interesting to see how peaceful it was to visit in this quiet environment, which is perfect for meditation or contemplation. I highly recommend to visitors that they should respect the sacredness of the site; don’t make noise, and help keep the temple beautiful by helping to keep it clean. Whatever draws you to this place, the spiritual peace or the artistic wonder, it is a very unique place to visit. check the grammar in this."

"Degaldoruwa Raja Maha Viharaya – Visit Experience
Visited Degaldoruwa Raja Maha Viharaya on Poson Poya Day. The temple itself is beautiful and peaceful, known for its historic Kandyan-era murals and rock cave architecture. A truly spiritual and culturally rich site near Kandy.
However, due to the narrow road leading to the temple, there was heavy traffic, and it took a long time to reach. On Poya days, especially during religious events like Poson, the area gets very crowded.
Tip: For a more relaxed experience, it’s better to visit on a regular weekday when there’s less traffic and you can enjoy the calm atmosphere fully."

"The temple had been built at a place where two rocks were touching each other from above and below. The paintings done in the temple were done by four temples. We went early in the morning at 8 and it's serene. In the Shrine Room ceiling, which is a rock surface, is also painted the scene of the Lord Buddha and the Mara and his forces. There is also a painting of Mahi Kantawa or the Earth Godess on the ceiling."
