Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Makhdoom Sahib Shrine for its profound peace, spiritual ambiance, and breathtaking panoramic views of Srinagar. The traditional Kashmiri architecture is also a highlight. However, some note the significant number of steps required for access and potential restrictions for women in the inner shrine area.

"The Makhdoom Sahib Dargah, located on the hillside of Hari Parbat in Srinagar, is a peaceful and spiritual place that many people visit to pray or simply find some quiet. It is dedicated to Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom, a well-known and respected Sufi saint from the 16th century. The shrine has a beautiful wooden structure built in traditional Kashmiri style, with detailed carvings and a calm courtyard that adds to its charm.

What makes this place even more special is the amazing view it offers — you can see Dal Lake, the old city of Srinagar, and the mountains all around. Even though it’s close to the busy city, the dargah feels very calm and peaceful once you’re there. It’s a perfect place for prayer, reflection, or just sitting quietly for a while.

The dargah also has a lot of historical and spiritual importance, making it a meaningful stop for both locals and visitors. Whether you are visiting for religious reasons or just to explore, Makhdoom Sahib Dargah is a place that gives you a feeling of peace and connection."

"Come with good intentions and faith in Allah, you will find ultimate inner peace here.
Adorable place.
Wish to see this place again but without any crowd.
Its a very very busy place, hundreds of men and women going in and out continuously.
A beautiful view of almost whole Srinagar area.
I guess there are more than 100 stairs from the road.
But once you reach at the top, it feels awesome.
Loved this place.
❤❤❤"

"Ziyarat Hazrat Makhdoom Sahib RA in Kashmir is a must-see if you’re exploring old Srinagar area. Located on the southern side of Shankaracharya Hill, this shrine is dedicated to Hazrat Makhdoom Sahib RA, a highly respected Sufi saint who played a key role in spreading Islam in Kashmir.

The shrine is an architectural gem with its mix of Kashmiri and Islamic styles. You’ll be greeted by intricate wooden carvings and a serene atmosphere that’s perfect for a moment of reflection. The main building houses the saint’s grave, and the lush gardens surrounding it add to the peaceful ambiance. However they didn’t let my female friend enter the shrine area citing religious believes.

Getting there is easy. Just head towards Shankaracharya Hill from Srinagar’s city center. The streets are well-kept, and along the way, you’ll pass through lively markets and enjoy stunning views that make the drive pleasant. There’s plenty of street foods to explore as well.

People come here for spiritual solace and to pay homage to an important figure in Kashmiri history. It’s a place where you can feel a deep sense of peace and connection. Our visit was made even more special by the warm welcome from the locals. Despite traveling from Kerala, we were warmly received, and their hospitality truly made our experience memorable.

If you’re in Kashmir, make sure to visit Ziyarat Hazrat Makhdoom Sahib RA. It’s a beautiful spot with a rich history and a genuine local touch."
