Sudak, Ukraine. Seen here in the mist, this fortress has over 2,000 years of rich history, having seen battle waged by the Greeks, the Tartars, the Mongols and the Rus', a diverse group of Norsemen. I'll post way to much in the comments, including an interactive panoramic photo.

Sudak Castle, Crimea [OC]. One of the largest castles I have visited. It's located on a cliff edge over the beautiful Black Sea. To get the whole castle in shot I had to hike pretty far away and merge three photos together. The highest tower is on a smooth rock outcrop and is reached by chain!
