What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Gråen Island is described as a magical and unique place, offering a serene escape with its nature reserve and charming colony gardens. Visitors appreciate its distinct atmosphere and historical context, though access can be challenging and caution is advised regarding natural elements like cormorant droppings.
"Amazing little island. I can't put into words how magical this place is. I've always been really bad at playing but I won my first game of yatzi here. My only complaint is that the cormorant droppings are corrosive. I had a tragic accident where I got some cormorant droppings on my hand. Ouch ouch. Now that I wear gloves when I visit the grey"

"Gråen is an artificial island outside Landskrona that was built at the former foundation to protect the harbor against military attacks. Fortification work began in 1748 and was interrupted in 1788. In the south, Gråen is connected to Gipsön, which was built in 1978. Gråen and Gipsön are approximately the same size and together have an area of just over 80 hectares.
Gråen is home to around 50 garden colonies on the eastern side and a bird sanctuary in the northern and western parts. The bird sanctuary has a number of moats and ponds, and is a haven for seabirds such as cormorants and herons.
The northern part of the island is Gråen Nature Reserve."
