What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Haverdal Beach is widely praised for its beautiful, long sandy shores and exceptionally shallow waters, making it ideal for families. Visitors rave about the stunning sunsets and the overall peaceful atmosphere. However, some reviews mention issues with seaweed and odor in certain northern sections, and limited amenities like toilets and food options can be a drawback for some.
"The north part of this beach is absolutely disgusting. It is lined with muck and seaweed, and it smells strongly of feces. There were thousands of people there on the day I briefly visited, and there are no public toilets on this part of the beach, so you can guess where the smell comes from. People were sunbathing, having their picnics and letting their children play here. Revolting. And no doubt a health hazard.
A bit further south there is a public toilet by the parking lot. I expected queues there due to the thousands of people on the beach, but it was strangely almost empty -- as was the ice cream kiosk, on one of the hottest days of the year.
Horrible. Never again."

"It's a long sandy beach, shallow and great for kids. Normally not much of algaes, however, late in the season when the autumn storms hit, it can be quite a lot. But all in all, it is a very nice beach."

"Wonderful - watching waters is always a wonderful scene. Extra nice if you catch a sunny day with it."

The Beach Experience: Sand, Sea, and Sunsets
Beyond the daytime activities, Haverdal Beach transforms into a spectacle at dusk. The breathtaking sunsets are a highlight, with the sky often erupting in a palette of oranges, pinks, and purples as the sun dips below the horizon. This makes it a popular spot for photographers and couples seeking a romantic end to the day.
While the beach is generally pristine, it's worth noting that late in the season, or after autumn storms, some areas, particularly the northern parts, can accumulate seaweed and muck, which may affect the smell and appearance. However, many visitors find the southern sections consistently cleaner and more appealing.
Navigating Amenities and Visitor Tips
Food options directly on the beach are often limited to a seasonal ice cream kiosk. Therefore, packing a picnic is a highly recommended strategy for a full day of enjoyment. This allows you to savor meals with a view without relying on potentially distant or closed food vendors.
For those seeking a more tranquil experience, visiting during weekdays or early mornings is advised, as weekends and peak summer days can attract large crowds. The beach's popularity means that arriving early can secure better parking and a more spacious spot on the sand.
