"Absolutely disgusting – worst hotel experience of my life!

I honestly don’t know where to start. This place was a total nightmare from the moment we walked in. The rooms were filthy, tiny, and smelled like moldy garbage. There was actual mold on the walls and in the bathroom – not just a little, but full-on black patches. It felt like sleeping in a wet, rotting closet.

The breakfast? A complete joke. Stale bread, sour juice, and rubbery eggs that looked like they’d been microwaved a week ago. I wouldn’t feed that to a stray dog. Disgusting.

The staff were some of the rudest people I’ve ever dealt with. No smiles, no help, no basic manners. When we politely asked about the disgusting room and the smell, they shrugged it off like it was normal. Zero apology, zero care.

But the worst part? The pool was CLOSED, with no warning at all. We picked this hotel specifically because of the pool, and they just said “it’s not available” like it was no big deal. No compensation, no explanation – just tough luck for us.

If you value your money, your time, your health, or your sanity – do NOT stay here. This hotel should be condemned.

"Disappointing Experience for Our Floorball Team During Our Stay in Karlstad

We stayed at this hotel during a floorball tournament in Karlstad, and unfortunately, our experience did not meet our expectations or match what the hotel claims to offer.

From the very beginning, we felt unwelcome. We were a youth group under the age of 18, but we were traveling with responsible adults and were properly organized and supervised. When we asked to use the hotel’s pool, we were told it wasn’t allowed because we were underage. Initially, we understood this – rules are rules. However, even after offering to swim together with our adult supervisors, we were still denied access with no real explanation, just a blunt refusal. The most frustrating part was discovering that other young guests, who also appeared to be under 18, were using the pool late at night without any consequences. This felt deeply unfair and gave us the impression of clear double standards.

We tried to speak with the hotel staff, both as a group and through our accompanying adults, but we were met with indifference. It seemed the staff were not willing to listen to our concerns, and their communication lacked both respect and professionalism. A hotel that accommodates youth teams should be able and willing to provide a service that is both fair and courteous. Unfortunately, that was not the case here.

"We were really looking forward to our stay at Scandic, but unfortunately our experience was quite disappointing. We had planned to use the pool during our stay — something that was a key reason for choosing this hotel — but we were denied access without a clear explanation. What made it worse was that the staff didn’t even allow us to have a conversation about the possibility of having four parents join us briefly.

We completely understand the need for rules, but the lack of flexibility and unwillingness to even engage in a respectful dialogue left us feeling unwelcome. This experience did not reflect the kind of hospitality we expect from a hotel that markets itself as family friendly.

We hope Scandic reconsiders how they handle these situations in the future. Until then, we’re unlikely to return or recommend it."
