A rectangular tower with a shell-shaped floor plan, six floors, and a height of 24 meters, erected before 1383 by Master Rudi von Hohenberger. Construction took place between 1402 and 1418.
The original form of the Berntor has remained unchanged for over 700 years! It is the only gate in Freiburg that has not been restored. The 13th-century drawbridge is still visible at the north entrance of the Berntor."
