What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lavey-les-Bains Thermal Spa is praised for its beautiful mountain views and the therapeutic qualities of its mineral-rich thermal waters, particularly the outdoor pools with submerged loungers and jets. While many enjoy the extensive wellness facilities like saunas and hammams, some long-time visitors miss the ambiance of older renovations and find indoor areas can be uncomfortably cold in winter. Food and drink prices are noted as being quite high.
"We did the baths and even on a week day there is a Good amount of people here. The place has lovely views, surrounded by greenery. Outside baths are a good temperature with submerged loungers and bubbles. The facilities has been remodeled this summer so everything looks new and fresh, the sauna house is pretty cool with a small plunge pool. And fresh snow for rubbing on yourself. Then there is the relaxation house with reclined suspended loungers. There is also a hammam space with 5 rooms. Also an indoor pool with relaxing music on the hour."

"The renovations didnt made it much better except the entrance showers. I miss the old big and hot hammam, and the fire in the relaxation room. The walkthrough from sauna/spa to the relaxation room is a good idea. However i dont udmerstand why they made 4-5 Hammams all with the same temperature. The new relaxation rooms have potential to improve, theyre very modern but not so cosy anymore. Otherwise i still like the bath, but we miss already the mentioned things since we come for many years."

"I have been coming here since my childhood, and I absolutely adore this place.
It's quite crowded during peak hours, so I recommend going at an unusual time if you can.
Even when it's busy the experience is something special.
They have all manner of Spa treatments you can imagine, and more...
10/10 Highly recommend!"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
The Thermal Waters of Lavey-les-Bains
Visitors can experience these healing waters in various settings. The main attraction includes three large thermal pools: one indoor and two expansive outdoor pools. These outdoor pools are designed with submerged loungers and hydro-massage jets, allowing guests to float and unwind while enjoying the scenic surroundings. The indoor pool offers a more serene atmosphere, often accompanied by calming music.
Beyond the pools, the spa complex boasts a comprehensive wellness area. This includes a variety of saunas and hammams, each offering a different temperature and humidity level for detoxification and relaxation. A small plunge pool and a dedicated relaxation house with unique suspended loungers provide further opportunities to de-stress.
Navigating the Wellness and Sauna Experience
The relaxation rooms themselves are modern and spacious, featuring suspended loungers that are designed for ultimate comfort. However, some guests find these new spaces to be less cozy than the previous iterations. Despite these subjective changes, the overall aim is to provide a tranquil environment for guests to unwind after their thermal and sauna sessions.
For those seeking a more invigorating experience, the sauna house includes a small plunge pool, perfect for a quick, refreshing dip. The spa also offers a range of beauty treatments and massages, allowing visitors to tailor their wellness journey to their specific needs and preferences.
Recent Renovations and Visitor Feedback
The new relaxation rooms, while modern, are perceived by some as lacking the cozy ambiance of the past. This feedback highlights a common challenge in renovations: balancing modernization with the preservation of a beloved atmosphere. Despite these critiques, the core thermal bath experience remains a strong draw.
On the practical side, the renovations have improved the entrance and shower areas. However, a recurring point of feedback, particularly from mid-November visits, is the inconsistent indoor temperature. Some guests have found indoor areas, including changing rooms and snack bars, to be quite cold, leading to discomfort. Conversely, during summer or early autumn, these areas can become uncomfortably hot.
