What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the spectacular rocky scenery and impressive reservoir lakes, calling it one of the best passes driven. The Gelmerbahn funicular is a unique highlight. However, some find the pass overly crowded with motorcycles during peak hours, leading to concerns about safety and a diminished sense of serenity.
"Headed to the mountains as part of our Swiss holiday and the roads and views were truly memorable.
Hopped out at a couple of spots for some pics and to take in the views
Highly recommend you take the Grimsel to Furka pass route!"

"We drove up early (0800) and it was incredible. We hiked up from the lake by the parking area/ restaurant and returned around 1200 to a zoo of motorcycle and modified car engine noise. We drove down below the dam and did another day hike up to the waterfall (through the tunnel) which was incredible. On the way down driving around 1700 the sheer number of motorcycles driving like they are professionals was downright dangerous. Bummer that such a serene area is ruined by motorcycles. Surprised the Swiss allow this. Still glad we went but minus two stars for the motorbrains."

"The best pass I drove on my last European Road Trip. Rocky scenery with lakes at the top. What also looks like an abandoned Marmot park which had no Marmots in it. No matter, if you are lucky you can see Marmots in the wild a short distance from it anyway…"
