What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Bürkliplatz for its vibrant markets, offering a diverse range of fresh produce and unique flea market finds. The beautiful lakeside location provides a relaxing atmosphere with stunning views. However, some find the market goods, particularly food items, to be quite expensive compared to regular stores.
"A wonderfully large market, with everything from a huge selection of fresh fruit and veggies, to meats, cheeses, flowers and other assorted local flavors. I really enjoyed the full shade on the warm Friday morning I went there in August. Just a perfect local market."
Patrick Walker
"Beautiful place for a walk. You can relax there and enjoy the beautiful lake view. There’s a harbor and boat tours around Lake Zurich. Swans, ducks and pigeons by the fence."
Ardian Vinca
"I mainly visit the market (it is there every Tuesday and Friday morning) to bath in the abundance of colours (flowers and vegetables) and enjoy the diversity of the different veggies, herbs and fruits. You do find vegetables you usually don't find in the common supermarket.
You can also buy nice bread and cheese and even fish and meat.
There are also speciality market stalls where you can buy Italian food such as pasta, cheeses, salami etc. or dried fruits or variations of honey for example.
The only negative and sadly noticeable point is that those market goods are generally (more) expensive. Surely one can argue that quality has its price, but it is definitely a place I couldn't afford for daily shopping."

Navigating the Bürkliplatz Markets
The food market, on the other hand, is a celebration of Swiss and international culinary delights. Expect a dazzling array of fresh, seasonal produce, artisanal cheeses, cured meats, freshly baked bread, and beautiful flowers. While both markets offer a fantastic experience, be aware that prices, especially at the food market, can be on the higher side, reflecting Zurich's cost of living. However, the quality and variety often justify the expense for many visitors.
The Bürkliplatz Experience Beyond the Markets
Adjacent to the square is the harbor, where you can catch boat tours around Lake Zurich. These tours provide a different perspective of the city and its beautiful surroundings. You'll often see swans, ducks, and pigeons adding to the charm of the waterfront.
