What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning views and the adventurous hike to the historic Alara Castle ruins. The natural beauty of the river and bridge is a major draw, offering a refreshing escape. However, many are disappointed by the amount of litter, urging visitors to be more responsible and help preserve the site.
"this place is truly worth seeing, a real natural wonder. however, it’s very sad that locals have polluted it so much — you can find plastic and trash almost every few meters. the river is still clean, but people really need to stop littering and take better care of this beautiful spot.
if you plan to visit, i strongly recommend bringing garbage bags with you and making sure not to leave any plastic or waste behind. it would be so much more enjoyable if more conscious visitors came here. despite the pollution, we still had a wonderful time. the water is very cold, and in safe spots it’s possible to swim, which was a great experience.
we didn’t have the chance to climb up to the castle this time, but i definitely want to do that on my next visit."

"There are apparently two ways up: one through a tunnel (which we didn’t find) and another by following the blue arrows outside. I’d rate this as a T4 hike (Swiss scale), meaning you need to scramble and use your hands at times. The path can be hard to follow, so if you lose it, just backtrack and look for the blue arrows. Definitely not for beginners—good footwear is essential. The view is stunning, and the castle at the top is absolutely worth the climb."

"Forbidden to enter, according to signs on the ground. For the entrance follow the signs and the river upstream. There are bats in the stairway and it's dangerous to walk, especially downstairs.
But the view from the ground is nice. There's a restaurant and the local children swim in the beautiful and clear river."
