What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Beşiktaş Square and its fish market for its authentic atmosphere and delicious 'balik ekmek'. The vibrant energy of the market and the scenic Bosphorus views are major draws. Some find the area can get crowded, and parking is a challenge, but the overall experience is highly recommended for its local flavor and culinary delights.
"This market is actually a small one with about 5 or 6 stalls sellin fish and 1 selling vegetables. to be honest most of the stuff there were very fresh but I wasn't sure about the price and probably I got ripped off. Bought 2 fish (sea bass & a snapper), labels in TRY and I thought those meant by the kiilo but they charged me by piece and that was about USD8 per piece (about a pound each). It did not seem a good price though. There is also an adjacent restaurant right by the entrance of the market but I did not even think of eating there because of the fishy smell the the surrounding.
This place is skippable."

"Crazy place, good bars and great fish"

"To be honest it's quite underwhelming, I was expecting something more on the line of the Pier Seattle, Washington.
It really has a lot of potential if they had it on ice the fish made it look more presentable had some vendors inside that sold pre-made sandwiches or fish sandwiches it could be really nice but when I saw it today I was beyond underwhelmed. It's not really worth going to however the neighborhood around it is awesome. I would highly recommend going and hanging out at the neighborhood bars restaurants it's a young cool hip crowd. Just look at the two or three vendors that are open at the fish market and then keep walking.
It was so disappointing I didn't even bother taking the picture."
