This week’s special extended episode sees us visiting Dalyan on the Turkish turquoise coast. We experience the very stinky, but very fun sulphur mud baths, enjoy a beautiful meal after climbing round some amazing ancient ruined city and exploring thousands of year-old carved tombs in the rock side, from an amazing local boat which I didn’t have to captain allllll day!! Woohoo! #sailingpicklefamily...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Dalyan Mud Baths for their unique, fun, and skin-benefiting properties, especially when accessed affordably via the local ferry and back entrance. While the sulfur smell is noticeable and surfaces can be slippery, the overall experience is considered a great value and a must-do for its therapeutic and entertaining aspects.

"Save yourself 6000tl and cross with the ferry to get to the mud baths for just 20tl per person. (Cross at: Dalyan Denizkızı Feribot İşletmesi).
From there it was a 500m walk to a gate at the back entrance of the mud baths.
Call the number on the gate and the man will come open it within 2 minutes.
Entrance into the bath is 190tl per hour. An hour is long enough. It was a great experience with lovely facilities.

I would highly recommend this experience just don't fall for the over priced tourist traps along the way. It's possible to easily navigate your way there alone."

"Lovely place.
I got here from Dalyan by walking 15 mins northwards alongside the river, nice gentle stroll flanked by villas and hotels on the one side and the river and cafés on the other. Eventually you get to a dead end, where you continue on the jetty passed loads of moored boats, right to the end (100m or so). There's the ferry which costs 20TL to cross the river. Don't fall for the taxi mafiosi guy who sits next to the ferry port and offers you a crossing for 1000TL... He must think we're all thick and don't do our homework 🤣. Once you paid the ferry guy his 20TL, 2 mins later you're on the other side. Walk for 2 mins up the road and on the left side there's a gate with a phone number. This is basically the back entrance to this place, as most of the customers are being shipped in by boat (for a small fortune I guess). Call the number and the owner answers and after 5 mins or so he comes and opens and leads you down to the mud-bath complex. The entrance fee is 190TL which you pay at the café.
The mudbath complex itself is quite nice, although it could do with a few thoughtful improvements. There is the 20sqm mudpool, which is about knee deep, but beware of the steps under the water and the uneven surfaces, which you cannot see. A simple improvement would be to install a handrail at the steps, that would help an awful lot.
Then there's a shower and toilet complex about 20 metres away, which is functional and reasonably clean. After you've done your mudbath thing you can dip into the thermal spring which is a small 12sqm , 1.7m deep, 40°pool which has pebbled bottom and a few rocks on the floor- beware not to knock your toes on them. At the entrance to the thermal pool there's a lady with a hosepipe who makes sure you don't carry and mud into the Cristal clear water, quite effectively.
There's then also a rudimentary mud walk, but I wouldn't recommend that as beneath the mud are unpleasant sharp stones, which make it impossible to actually walk the walk- this needs improvement.
Next to it all there's the cafe with drinks and ice cream and pancakes... a 0.33l EFES beer is 190TL and a cup of mint tea is 100TL.
So overall it's a nice little thing to do, that doesn't break the bank.
Please note this is not the more commercialised mud bath up the river in the Koycegiz Lake, called Sultaniye Kaplicalari but the much smaller and lesser known Camur Banyosu."

Helmut Kruse

"Fun! Clean (lol, yes despite mud) facility - they hose it down. Toilets. Power showers. POWER! Careful! Mud was rejuvenated but oh so icky to stand in!"
