What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Datça is widely praised for its stunning natural beauty, particularly its pristine bays and clear waters, and the tranquil, laid-back atmosphere of its promenade and old town. Visitors also appreciate the historical significance of Knidos and the local culinary offerings, especially the honey. However, some find the town itself a bit 'overrated' compared to the surrounding natural attractions, and a few have experienced unwelcoming access restrictions.
"Datça, located on the Reşadiye Peninsula near Marmaris, is a stunning destination that combines natural beauty and historical charm. Known for its pristine beaches and clear waters, Datça offers over 50 bays with an aquarium-like quality, ideal for swimming and relaxation. The area is also rich in history, with the ancient city of Knidos as a notable archaeological site featuring impressive ruins.
The town itself exudes a laid-back atmosphere, with Old Datça being a highlight for its stone houses, narrow bougainvillea-lined streets, and artisan shops. Datça’s Mediterranean-Aegean cuisine and vibrant harbor add to its appeal, making it a tranquil escape for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike."

"I have been to Datça twice before and loved its sea, nature, and calm atmosphere.
But today, I faced something shocking: the jandarma stopped only me on the way, told me I was not allowed to enter Datça, and instead directed me to another city.
👉 All the other cars passed freely.
This left me disappointed and unwelcome, even though Datça itself is a beautiful place worth visiting."

"I took the car ferry from Bodrum Marina at 9am to Datca where it arrives at a purpose built marina and you can take a free courtesy bus to the Bus Station in Datca town about a ten minute walk downhill to the stunning Datca Bay where you will find a selection of restaurants serving all cuisines including fish.Stayed there 10 years in the stunning Hotel Mare overlooking the Bay.A modern town is nearby and many outlets promoting premium local Honey and other organic products.
Excellent day out at £20 for return trip and if taking vehicle saves a lot of time driving along the Datca peninsula from Mamaris area."
