"While in Knidos, we reached the lighthouse after a challenging 30-minute walk to watch the sunset and take photos...
The weather was hazy at sunset, so we were visually disappointed. In short, it wasn't worth the effort...😒
It was built in 1931 in the Knidos (Kriyo) area of Datça. This place, the furthest point of Anatolia extending into the Mediterranean, also serves as a dividing point between the Aegean and Mediterranean seas. The lighthouse was named Deveboynu because its geographical shape resembles a camel. The lighthouse rises 104 meters above sea level, and its masonry tower is 9 meters high. The lighthouse, with a 10-second marking, has a visibility range of 12 nautical miles.
The lighthouse initially used wicked kerosene lamps as light sources, later using LPG-powered, brightly lit sleeve lamps, and currently uses a 35W solar-powered electric lamp. Three cathodioptric panels with a focal length of 375 mm were used to enhance the light source and make it visible from a distance. These optical panels are arranged in a rectangular shape on a circular platform that rotates over a mercury bath. The light source is fixed at the focal point, and the rotation of the optical panels on the platform allows the lighthouse to emit four flashing lights.
The clock mechanism and panels are under protection in Istanbul. Currently, it operates with a 300m flashing lighthouse equipped with an electric flasher.
The lighthouse and guardhouse are protected as national heritage by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety."

"The lighthouse, which can be reached by foot from the ancient city of Kndos in about 45 minutes by foot, offers you a viewing elegance with its beautiful view.
Don't forget to take a picture of the Turkish flag on the wall facing the open sea.
Be careful as the thorns on the sides of the narrow path along the way may scratch your legs."

"If you happen to be in Datça, don't make excuses like it's far, the road is very winding, etc., definitely walk to the lighthouse until sunset with your wine and appetizers. The walk will take about 30 minutes. The route is slightly steep and rocky, narrow, surrounded by large and small bushes and maquis. Spend a few hours there once you reach the lighthouse. Don't return immediately, especially after sunset, enjoy the light shows in the sky."
