"Gürcü Kapı Ali Ağa Mosque - Erzurum
Gürcü Kapı Ali Ağa Mosque was built in 1608 by Zakreci Ali Ağa, one of the Janissary Corps chiefs who served in Erzurum. The mosque is also known as Ali Ağa Mosque. A small inscription documenting the repair of the building damaged in the 1859 earthquake is located on the pointed arch door pediment. The narthex in front of the mosque is covered with three domes supported by four columns. These domes are hidden from the outside with a conical roof. The building has a square plan and a central dome resting on squinches at the corners. The interior of the mosque, which is made of smooth cut stone, is illuminated by six windows at the bottom and four windows at the top. Gürcü Kapı Ali Ağa Mosque, whose minaret was built of red camber stones and rubble stone, was restored in 2006.
