What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors note that the Mazlum Ağa Hamamı, despite recent restoration, is not currently operational as a bathhouse and can only be viewed from the outside. While its 18th-century Ottoman architecture is appreciated, the lack of interior access and potential for confusion with its name are drawbacks.
"This traditional hamman has been recently restored but is not operative any longer as a bath and at the moment there wasn’t much going on."

"This is NOT MAZLUMAGA BATH - Google should not translate Private names into English! I suggested an edit months ago but it has not been corrected.
The proper name is MAZLUM AĞA HAMAMI (BATH)
Located by Taş Köprü, below the castle and by the stream, unfortunately it is not open to visitors, you could just take photos from outside"
Belgin Savaci-Clissold
"Architectural development in Kars city first emerged on the southern slopes of the historic Kars Citadel and continued to develop southward and eastward throughout its subsequent history. A center of culture and art in the region during the Middle Ages, Kars became one of Anatolia's leading gateways to the east and the Caucasus. The city, home to Islamic and Christian architectural structures, has seen both religious structures, as well as military and civil architecture, play a significant role in the city's development. Baths, among the city's water structures, are regularly arranged on both banks of the Kars River, which flows through Kars. One of these structures, the Mazlum Ağa Bath, was built in the architectural style of the 18th-century Ottoman period. The bathhouse is situated on the ground in the Kaleiçi neighborhood of Kars city center, extending east-west. The bathhouse is bordered by the Kars River to the north, a road to the south, and neighboring parcels to the east and west. The Mazlum Ağa Bathhouse was built in 2017 under the leadership of the Kars Governorate for the purpose of preserving it and promoting cultural tourism. Under the coordination of the Culture, Tourism, and Infrastructure Services Union, implementation survey, restitution, and restoration projects for the restoration were prepared as part of the "Historical Fabric Protection Project." The restoration work, which began in 2017, was completed in three phases by the end of 2021.
The Mazlum Ağa Hamam project-repair implementation and usage research was conducted based on descriptive and application models. Historical documents and photographs of the structure were identified using descriptive and research model methods, and existing photographs were taken and the findings were evaluated."
