What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Söğüt Village is praised for its breathtaking natural beauty, particularly the unique homes with direct sea access and spectacular sunsets. Visitors appreciate its tranquil atmosphere, especially outside peak season. However, concerns exist regarding unplanned construction impacting the pristine environment, and some find the seaside restaurants to be quite expensive.
"What a lovely village, it is like a place from a story book that we read when we were kids. I only visit here during winter season so I don’t know the summer vibes. But in winters it is quite, only filled with voices of nature and animals, blooming almond trees and spring flowers in March.
Sunsets in here are spectacular, everyday is a magic of the Helios showing his artistic powers to paint the skies…. A must see place at least once, hope the city officials will protect the beauty of this place without building huge concrete ugly homes which is already starting to pop up recently. Last one year I have seen they are constructing huge houses and hotels via muddy village roads, no planning, no civil engineers, cutting all those beautiful millennial trees and never replanting. One way to repel tourism which is the ONLY income of this village is to destroy it by building a lot of ugly things without city planning, by destroying the nature and trees. I hope soon they will recognize this and take some precautions before it is too late 😞"

"I came for a day trip in September. It's a quiet village where you can relax. There's no noise or unnecessary activity within the village. If you're coming by road, the road is very winding. The sea is beautiful and clear, but mostly rocky. Guesthouses have piers and sun loungers by the sea."

"It's a magnificent natural setting, but it's also been ravaged by unplanned and uncontrolled construction. There's no such thing as a beach. Hotels, restaurants, and private businesses have parceled out the entire area. In July 2025, you must guarantee a 1,000 TL deposit per person for entry. Beyond that, there's no other beachfront space available. Even the distance between the buildings and the shore has been ravaged by overhangs and extensions. It's a shame for this natural wonder."

The Unique Charm of Seaside Homes
These seaside residences offer an unparalleled living experience, where waking up means stepping directly from your home into the refreshing Aegean Sea. This direct connection to nature is a significant draw for visitors, offering a sense of peace and exclusivity. While some of these properties are private residences, others operate as boutique hotels or guesthouses, allowing travelers to experience this unique lifestyle firsthand. It's this intimate relationship between dwelling and sea that truly defines the character of Söğüt Village.
Navigating Development and Preservation
Travelers and locals alike express a desire to protect the pristine environment that draws visitors to Söğüt. The concern is that unchecked development, including the destruction of natural landscapes and trees, could diminish the very charm that makes the village special. There's a call for thoughtful urban planning and a focus on maintaining the village's authentic character to ensure its long-term appeal and the well-being of its ecosystem. The hope is that authorities will implement measures to safeguard Söğüt's beauty before it's irrevocably altered.
Experiencing Söğüt's Culinary Scene
However, it's worth noting that the prime locations of these restaurants contribute to their pricing, with some visitors finding them to be on the more expensive side. While the focus is on the scenic setting and fresh seafood, some reviews suggest that the commercialization of the beachfront has led to a less distinctively 'local' culinary scene, with fewer options for traditional, home-style cooking. Despite this, the overall ambiance and the quality of the seafood make dining in Söğüt a memorable part of the visit.
