"These are parts of the remaining walls of Constantinople. The walls surrounding the city were built starting from the 5th century."
Ahmed Al-Akki
"he Byzantine walls can be seen right outside of the Ulubatli metro stop, but if you want to reach the Topkapi Gate it is a 10-15 minute walk. access is totally free, and the walls in this stretch are fairly well maintained. Many towers are still standing and are in decent condition, and the triple line of fortifications are clearly on display. It may not be an attraction for everybody, but those interested in history or fortifications will love it!"

The Engineering Marvel of the Theodosian Walls
The most striking feature of the Theodosian Walls is their triple line of defense. This consisted of a wide moat, an outer wall (parateichion) with towers, and a massive inner wall (theos protechisma) reinforced with numerous towers. This layered approach made breaching the defenses incredibly difficult, contributing to Constantinople's reputation as an 'unconquerable' city for centuries.
Despite facing numerous sieges and attacks, the walls largely held until the Ottoman conquest in 1453. Today, while parts are in ruins or have been absorbed by the city, significant sections remain, offering a tangible connection to the city's rich and often turbulent history. Restoration efforts continue to preserve this incredible testament to ancient engineering.
