"Lovely walk near the water. In the Summer, the heat's and water's call are deafening.
I always thought of Iliad, Odyssey as epic poems the world only considered being based in facts after archeology (18xy? 190z?), but read (in Yerebatan Saray?) and in Truva Müzesi that Mehmed II, visiting in 1460, said something like "Ilion is avenged" and that only later Troy's location was forgotten.
In other words: in my mind Troy war happened (XII? X BC?), Homer wrote down (VII BC?) what had been passed by oral tradition for ~half a millenium and the city only ressurrected XIX-XX AD, but apparently that was just the western perspective.
Çannakale and Istanbul control the sea path between the Aegean Sea /Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea, which implies a lot to History.
There are so many intersections in both Greek and Turkish cultures that sometimes, if you can put aside language, religion, you see both Peoples as one and it's difficult to understand ressurrections of a conflict ~3 millennia ago."
