What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Zeytintaşı Cave is praised for its impressive underground lake and stunning natural formations, offering a unique geological experience. However, visitors should be aware of recent photography restrictions inside the cave, which can be a drawback for some. The journey to the cave is also noted as a scenic, albeit sometimes winding, drive through the İbradı region.
"The cave itself is quite interesting and worth a visit. But I would no recommend going there specifically, only if you are in that area.
Photography and video shooting inside is prohibited. It is a pity that it is impossible to purchase at least postcards as souvenirs.
It’s very beautiful inside, although there’s just one continuous puddle under your feet. And the cave is very small, so the tour is 15 minutes only.
There is ample parking space near the cave, parking is free.
If you arrive and don't find anyone at the checkout, it means that the Cave Guardian is now inside with visitors. You need to wait for abt 10 minutes.
Phones should be placed on the table at the entrance. It is very strange."

Muzeyyen Cengiz

Exploring Turkey's Largest Underground Lake
While the lake is the star attraction, the cave also boasts a spectacular array of stalactites and stalagmites. These mineral formations, created by dripping water depositing calcium carbonate, form intricate and often bizarre shapes that have been developing for centuries. Walking through the illuminated passages, you'll encounter formations that resemble natural sculptures, each with its own story of slow, patient creation. The interplay of light and shadow on these formations enhances their dramatic beauty.
Adding to the cave's allure is an underground waterfall. This hidden cascade contributes to the cave's unique hydrological system and adds another layer of natural wonder to the visitor experience. The sound of the water, combined with the cool, damp air, creates an immersive sensory experience that transports you to another world. It’s a reminder of the dynamic geological processes constantly at work beneath our feet.

The restriction aims to minimize human impact, ensuring that the cave's formations and ecosystem remain intact for future generations. Visitors are encouraged to respect these rules and enjoy the experience through their own eyes rather than through a lens.
For those who still wish to share the cave's wonders, it's recommended to look for official images or information shared by the cave management. Alternatively, focus on capturing the beauty of the surrounding landscape outside the cave, which often provides stunning photographic opportunities of the İbradı region.
