What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the West District for its vibrant art scene, creative hubs like Shenji New Village, and the historical significance of Chun Shui Tang. The free admission to many attractions is a major plus. However, some find the service at certain establishments, like nail salons, to be slow or unaccommodating.
"Add Line to make an appointment. I asked for two days because my wife and I are going abroad on 5/17 and want to get our nails done before going abroad.
They gave us a time before 5/16 and replied that we had 5/16 afternoon left. We replied right away, but they replied three hours later saying that their time was taken by another customer.
It's just to make an appointment and confirm the time. I can understand that the store is short of staff and the response is slow.
But you guys gave us time and we cooperated.
It took so long to reply and say no
Is this the right attitude to treat guests?
No matter how busy you are, reply to the appointment time.
I really don't understand. Are you really doing business?
I really want to publish the conversation record.
Your service attitude is that you can make an appointment within two days without arguing with the customer. Really good at business"

Another significant creative hotspot is Painted Animation Lane, a narrow alleyway transformed into an open-air art gallery. Local artists have adorned the walls with colorful and whimsical murals, bringing beloved cartoon characters and imaginative scenes to life. It's an incredibly photogenic spot, perfect for capturing fun and memorable pictures. The lane is a testament to the city's embrace of public art and its ability to turn ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences.
Beyond these specific locations, the entire West District exudes a creative spirit. You'll stumble upon independent bookstores, art studios, and quirky cafes tucked away on side streets. It’s a district that rewards exploration, encouraging visitors to slow down and appreciate the artistic pulse of Taichung.
The Birthplace of Bubble Tea
At Chun Shui Tang, you can choose from a variety of classic bubble tea options, often served in charming traditional teaware. The experience is about appreciating the subtle flavors and textures that made bubble tea a global phenomenon. While other establishments have popularized variations, experiencing the original at its source offers a unique perspective on this beloved drink.
Beyond the famous teahouse, the West District is dotted with numerous other cafes and tea shops, each offering their own take on bubble tea and other refreshing beverages. Exploring these spots can lead to delightful discoveries, but for the definitive historical experience, Chun Shui Tang is the place to go.
Urban Green Spaces and Modern Art
The square often serves as a venue for local events, markets, and performances, adding a dynamic layer to its appeal. It's a place where residents and visitors can gather, enjoy the outdoors, and experience the city's cultural offerings. The design emphasizes open spaces and natural elements, creating a pleasant contrast to the surrounding urban environment.
While not as historically rich as Shenji New Village, Park2 Caowu Square is crucial for understanding Taichung's contemporary urban planning and its commitment to integrating art and public spaces. It's a great spot to unwind, people-watch, and soak in the modern city vibe.
