What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Travelers find Hsinchu HSR Station to be a modern and efficient transit hub, praised for its seamless connection to the TRA Liujia Line and its role in Zhubei's rapid development. While it can get crowded during peak hours, the station offers convenient amenities and easy access to the Hsinchu Science Park.
"Had to go to Taipei City from the Science Park in urgent. Purchased a non-reserved seat to be departed in ten minutes. Used the auto teller machine and paid by credit card. Had to take two escalators up to the platform. The trains run on the left hand side, so larger numbered cars were up front. Non-reserved seats were in cars 9 to 12. The train arrived and departed on time as expected."

"Bought tickets online via web portal from Taipei to Hsinzhu. Purchase only required 1 passport (identity), collection and taking the train doesn’t require any identification other than verifying my passport number. I paid via visa online and all was smooth. You can even move your reservation earlier, and they can arrange your reserved seats on an earlier train if you’re there early.
Typically you should reach the platform approx 15mins before your scheduled train departure.
30mins if you want to take it slow and easy, and especially if you need time to interpret the signs.
Hsinzhu station resides beside a small mall with expensive cafe and eatery. The rail station has 2 7-11 stores, with mos burger, mister donut, a Japanese take away sushi and donburi… and a Starbucks cafe as well as a bubble tea shop.
There are plenty of seats on level 1 and when I visited on 30-Dec Saturday, there were lots of people but they don’t linger and there are seats available. Overall, it’s a very pleasant station and toilets are clean. There is also drinking water stations available to top up your water bottles.
The hsr station has an adjacent bus interchange/stops for taking your buses, the 5700 and the hiking bus tour which you need to book beforehand. Based on my findings on 2023-12-30, you need to book early for the tour bus, and the bus stand is number 6 for these 2 buses."
