What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Jiufen's magical, 'Spirited Away'-esque atmosphere, particularly the enchanting red lanterns and historic teahouses. The traditional tea ceremony experience is highly praised for its authenticity and knowledgeable staff, despite being on the pricier side. The artistic ambiance and beautiful views add to its charm, making it a memorable cultural immersion.
"This is one of the most famous place to visit in Jiufen for Japanese tourists. Staff was kind and very polite, and they can speak Japanese a little. We can get some knowledge about traditional tea ceremony in Taiwan.
Lovely atmosphere and tasty cakes and other snacks were also highly recommended. A little bit expensive but worth to come."

"The pricing is fair and reflects the quality of both the tea and the ambiance. The server was highly knowledgeable and prepared the tea with great finesse. She also shared insights about the history of the tea and explained how to prepare it ourselves.
There's a charming shop where you can purchase teapots, cups, and other tea accessories. The space also features an art gallery, adding to the cozy and inviting atmosphere. This is a must-visit spot when you're in Jiufen."

"Absolutely surreal and soulful — the kind of place that makes you slow down and savor the moment. Nestled in the heart of Jiufen Old Street, this historic teahouse offers not just tea, but a full sensory experience.
Prices are on the higher side (Oolong tea from 800–1600 NTD), and there’s a 120 NTD service fee per person — but it’s completely worth it for the view, ambience, and service.
What I loved most? The tea ceremony itself. A staff member patiently walked me through every step: warming the set, measuring the leaves, brewing techniques, and timing. Then, they let me try it all myself. You really feel part of the tradition, not just a guest.
They give you a full 30g of tea, divided into 6 neat portions — we used just 1, and they kindly packed the rest for us to take home. The included snack add-ons paired perfectly with the tea.
The table comes with an instruction card and a lovely postcard by a local artist ( i think the owner) — such thoughtful touches. Whether you’re a tea lover or just here for the view and tranquility, Jiufen Teahouse is a gem you shouldn’t miss."
